Rosalie Viney is Professor of Health Economics and Director of the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation at the University of Technology Sydney.
She has extensive experience in health economics, health services and health policy research. Her work has shaped national and international approaches to health technology assessment, priority setting, and the measurement and valuation of health outcomes.
Her research has informed policy on funding arrangements, consumer preferences, and health system performance, guiding more equitable and effective allocation of healthcare resources. She has advised governments on major health reforms and led research examining how policy affects access to utilisation of care.
Rosalie has held prominent leadership roles across the health economics and health services research community, including serving on the NHMRC Research Committee (2015–2021). She has been a Board member of the International Health Economics Association, a previous committee member of the Health Services Research Association of Australian and New Zealand and is a past President of the Australian Health Economics Association. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and also serves on the EuroQol Foundation Scientific Executive.
Rosalie was a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and Chair of its Economics Sub-Committee, where she played a key role in decisions on the cost-effectiveness and funding of medicines in Australia.
