Melanie Wyld is a Transplant Nephrologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and an Associate Professor in Clinical Epidemiology at Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney.
Her research integrates epidemiology, health economics, and qualitative methods to address consumer-driven questions and reduce disparities in access to, and outcomes from, kidney transplantation.
Her work has advanced the understanding of quality of life in kidney disease, including for people with multimorbidity, and informs national policy for underserved populations.
Melanie also developed the first comprehensive costing of chronic kidney disease in Australia, shaping national funding decisions, clinical guidelines, and international drug appraisals.
Melanie holds leadership roles across national nephrology and kidney transplantation societies and advisory groups, contributing to clinical innovation and national strategies for data monitoring, reporting, and equitable kidney care across Australia.
