Marcus Sellars is an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research, Institute for Health Transformation, Deakin University.
His interdisciplinary work spans qualitative research, health economics, ethics and law, with a focus on person-centred approaches to end-of-life care. He uses participatory and qualitative methods to engage consumers, carers and clinicians throughout the research process.
Marcus has led national initiatives to support substitute decision‑makers and co‑designed digital advance care planning tools with aged care recipients and clinicians. He also developed a novel cost‑effectiveness approach based on “preferences adhered to at end‑of‑life”, offering a more person‑centred alternative to the QALY.
His recent research examines PBAC and MSAC decision‑making and public perspectives on valuing health gains for children, informing more inclusive HTA and national policy reform.
