Duncan Mortimer is an Associate Professor and academic lead of the Behaviour, Incentives & Preferences (BIP) research theme at Monash University’s Centre for Health Economics.
A health economist with over 20 years’ experience, Duncan specialises in applied health economics, including preference studies, priority setting, economic evaluations, and policy impact analysis.
His work has informed national funding decisions for the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) and Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), shaped medical device regulation for the Therapeutic Goods Administration, and guided hospital efficiency measures for the Victorian Department of Human Services.
Current research spans aligning public funding with community values, co-designing services for neglected populations, and evaluating alternative funding models for primary care.
